A young Nigerian man is pleading for financial assistance after accumulating a staggering debt of N400 million due to a catastrophic accident involving a rented sports car during an illegal drag race in Lagos. The incident, which unfolded at Eko Atlantic City on September 14, 2024, has raised serious concerns about street racing and public safety.
The crash occurred around 4:00 PM and involved two high-performance vehicles engaged in an unauthorized drag race on a major city street. Witnesses reported that the race took a dangerous turn when one of the cars lost control, collided with another vehicle, and crashed into a concrete pole. Despite the severity of the accident, there were no fatalities, but multiple injuries were reported.
The driver, who identifies himself on Instagram as @Trammania, took to social media to share his harrowing experience. In his emotional post, he described how his life flashed before his eyes during the accident and expressed profound gratitude for surviving. However, he now faces overwhelming financial consequences, including the cost of the damaged Corvette Stingray 2022 and Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015, as well as significant property damage.
Trammania's post reads: “Yesterday evening, I watched my life flash right in front of my eyes. It all happened so fast. Still traumatized, I thought it was all over. I’m grateful to still be here, but the aftermath is overwhelming. Head jammed, back hurts, face bruised—I can’t even sleep due to the pain. The hospital bills are piling up, and I’m facing over 400 million in damages. Both the Corvette Stingray 2022 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 are gone, along with other property damage. I don’t even know where to start, but I’m glad I’m still here. God has plans for me. I’m still hospitalized and need all the support I can get.”
The dramatic turn of events highlights the perils associated with street racing and the urgent need for greater enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such dangerous activities.
