Mercy Eke, a popular reality star, has issued an apology following a controversial post made by her social media handler.
In a now-deleted tweet, her social media manager referred to Big Brother Naija "No Loose Guard" housemate Onyeka as a "gold digger," accusing him of being with Ozee Mbadiwe due to his affluent background.
“Onyeka the Mbadiwe gold digger sorry to burst your bubbles there’s no gold in the twins… #BBnaija,” Mercy Eke’s verified X handle posted.
The post sparked outrage from fans, who took to their pages to condemn Eke’s action.
Following the backlash, Eke issued an apology, explaining that the tweet wasn’t posted by her but by her handler.
She said she has left anything that concerns Big Brother Naija behind and couldn’t have involved herself in this season’s drama.
She wrote, “Can’t believe I’m waking up to this on my birthday. A handler that was supposed to post my birthday contents and reply to birthday wishes was involving herself in a BBN drama and now I have to deal with this mess???
“I have left everything BBN behind for Christ’s sake! And seeing such silly opinions, especially about one of the housemates I like! The only reason I’m not tagging this person’s main page is to not get her bullied by fans, because this is highly unprofessional.
“I apologize to Team Onyeka because this is so embarrassing coming from my account, it definitely does not represent me or how I feel.”
