During the October edition of the Holy Ghost Service for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye addressed misconceptions surrounding tithing, particularly regarding Jesus and his apostles.

In his remarks, Adeboye referenced a sermon he had watched online where a pastor argued against the practice of tithing by claiming that Jesus did not collect tithes. He responded, "Jesus was not a parish pastor; He was a world evangelist," emphasizing that such assertions were overly simplistic.

The pastor cited Luke 8:1-3, which mentions that several women, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna, financially supported Jesus’ ministry. Adeboye stressed that this indicates a different context for Jesus’ work compared to contemporary parish structures, reinforcing the importance of understanding biblical teachings on financial support within ministry.
