Adeyinka Adeleke, the All Progressives Congress (APC) councilorship candidate for Ward 15 in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, was tragically shot dead by unidentified gunmen on the afternoon of Saturday, October 12. The incident occurred in the Jide Jones area of Abeokuta South.
Adeleke was running for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November 16.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, SP Odutola Omolola, said the assailants who are suspected cultists, arrived in an unregistered Toyota Corolla Sport and armed with a pump action shotgun ad a pistol. Omolola said the assailants opened fire on the victim and left him de@d at the scene before taking to their heels.
The deceased was said to have been a transport union worker in the Panseke area of Abeokuta during his lifetime.
