In a successful operation, the Ogun State Police Command has rescued Rufus Odusanya, an 80-year-old man, along with another victim, Oluwaseye Olajide, after they were abducted at the Edun village junction in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
According to police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola, the kidnapping occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Following an anonymous distress call reporting the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode Egba swiftly mobilized a team, enlisting the help of local hunters to pursue the kidnappers.
Odutola noted that the kidnappers, armed with rifles and cutlasses, numbered six in total. In their attempt to escape, they encountered a well-coordinated police response that blocked potential exit routes and established security checkpoints in the area.
As the police intervened, the suspects abandoned their hostages and fled the scene, allowing for the safe recovery of Odusanya and Olajide.
The police are actively pursuing the kidnappers, with detectives working tirelessly to track them down and bring them to justice. The swift action of the Ogun State Police highlights their commitment to combatting crime and ensuring community safety.
