A tragic road accident on the Funtua-Gusau highway has left 15 dead and 13 injured, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State. The incident, which occurred on Saturday in Funtua, involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Dangote truck.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Shamsudeen Babajo, FRSC Sector Commander Aliyu Ma’aji confirmed that the crash was caused by a tyre burst on the Toyota bus, resulting in a loss of control and a fatal head-on collision with the truck.
Emergency responders from the Funtua Unit Command quickly transported the injured to Funtua General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Commander Ma’aji expressed condolences to the victims’ families and urged motorists to conduct routine checks on their tyres and avoid speeding, overloading, and reckless driving to help prevent similar incidents.
