Donald Trump issued a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call ahead of his return to the White House next year
The Republican President-elect told Putin not to to escalate the war in Ukraine and advised him about “Washington’s sizeable military presence in Europe,” The Washington Post reported. Trump then expressed an interest in having a follow-up conversation on “the resolution of Ukraine’s war soon.””
But Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov denied there was any conversation between the two men. Speaking to local press, he said: “This is the most obvious example of the quality of the information that is now published sometimes even in fairly respected publications.
“This is completely untrue. This is pure fiction, this is simply false information.”
The firebrand Republican has vowed on multiple occasions to bring an end to the ongoing conflict within 24 hours after he takes office in January. Despite the promise of ending the war, Trump has not fully explained how he intends to resolve the conflict.
Trump was also reported to have spoken to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Kremlin said last week Putin was willing to discuss Ukraine but that it did not mean he wanted to shift Moscow’s plans, MailOnline reported.
