
President Bola Tinubu has departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after a fruitful participation in the 19th G20 Leaders Summit. The president left Galeao Air Force Base (SBGL) Airport at 10:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, bound for Abuja, where he is expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 10:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
During the summit, President Tinubu underscored the importance of the global alliance against hunger and poverty, highlighting it as a pivotal issue for international cooperation. He also participated in several high-level engagements, including bilateral discussions with Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Georgieva lauded Tinubu’s economic reforms, praising the positive results that have emerged under his administration.
One of the key highlights of the president’s visit was his role in overseeing the signing of a $2.5 billion Letter of Intent between Nigeria and JBS S.A., a Brazilian meat processing giant and one of the world’s top three companies in the industry.
As the president returns to Nigeria, his diplomatic engagements in Brazil reflect his commitment to advancing economic ties and fostering international collaboration.
