Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) says the Redemption City used to be the headquarters of highway robbers and pythons 41 years ago.
Delivered an inspiring message titled Father’s Blessings during the Day 6 of the RCCG Holy Ghost Congress 2024, Adeboye reflected on the miraculous journey of Redemption City.
Adeboye recalled the humble and treacherous beginnings of Redemption City, now a spiritual epicentre for millions of worshippers worldwide.
“We came to this land 41 years ago when it was the headquarters of highway robbers and pythons. It seemed impossible,” he shared.
“But in the dictionary of my God, there’s no word called ‘impossible.’ With God on our side, nothing could stop us, and we will not fear.”
Describing the initial challenges, Adeboye revealed how Redemption City, once a swampy wilderness plagued by dangerous wildlife, was transformed through unshakable faith and divine guidance. “We were killing a python a week,” he recounted. “The smallest was over five metres long. Poisonous snakes of all types roamed freely, yet we stood firm because the Lord had declared, ‘This is yours.'”
He narrated how, against all odds, the first Congress held at Redemption City was made possible.
“We had less than three months to prepare, and the land was flooded with a deep river running beneath. The brethren said, ‘It’s impossible.’ But I told them, in God’s dictionary, ‘impossible’ does not exist. We buried the river, held the programme, and later dug it up again. Nothing will stop us when God is on our side,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from Numbers 14:6-9, Adeboye urged the congregation to adopt the spirit of Caleb and Joshua, who believed in the power of God to conquer any challenge.
“The Lord is with us; we will not fear,” he declared. “How many of you believe we can take over the world? Let me hear you shout Hallelujah!”
According to Church Gist, as the Congress concluded, Adeboye blessed the congregation, reminding them that they are already blessed and will remain so. “What God declares, only His hand can deliver,” he affirmed, urging believers never to doubt the prophetic or the miraculous.
