Operatives of the newly established Agunechemba Security Squad have uncovered a kidnappers’ hideout within a brothel located in Akwu-Ukwu, near Oba, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The operation, carried out after a tip-off from vigilant residents, led to the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and five sex workers allegedly providing them cover.
Sources revealed that the raid targeted a one-storey building used by the suspects. Following their arrest, the structure was immediately demolished by security operatives, in line with Anambra State’s Homeland Security Laws.
Speaking on the operation, a security operative stated, “We acted on credible information from the public about unusual activities at the brothel. Residents reported young men frequently visiting late at night and leaving early in the morning. After confirming the information, we moved in and apprehended the suspects.”
The operative further disclosed that some members of the gang managed to evade capture but assured the public that efforts are underway to track them down.
At the time of this report, the Anambra State Police Command had yet to officially confirm the incident.
