Should the NYSC scheme be scrapped?

Following the violence that erupted in some Northern states and the maiming and killing of scores of corps members after the presidential elections, do you think the scheme is still relevant in this time and age? You also have to take account of the fact that a lot of companies now reject corpers, so many are without a place of primary assignment, as such they have to depend on the meager allowance paid by the federal government that can hardly fuel your generator for one month? Taking all these into consideration, should the NYSC scheme not be scrapped?
