Kadijat Kasam, the CBN Deputy Director, told journalists that the centre would have a 450-seat lecture theatre and a 200-room hotel. She added that financial institutions and others will also be able to use the centre to host a number of short term courses, the income from which would be used to run it.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Hayward Mafuyi, thanked the CBN for the project. He noted that the selection of the university was based on its modest contributions, in terms of manpower, to financial institutions such as CBN, ANAN and ICAN.
The conference centre contract was awarded to Tecnis EPC International Limited.
