does not matter who. i think any guy that can raise his hand on the one he claims he love does not have the slightest respect for her. love always seeks for the good of its partner not pain. and at a time, it might be his nature, if he is hot tempered he might not know when he does that. if its the case, there might be love. she should make a decission.
