 Six soldiers and one civilian were killed in Sunday’s attack on a security patrol team by gunmen in Damaturu.
Mr Patrick Egbuniwe, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe, confirmed the deaths in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu.
Earlier, Mr Toyin Gbadegeshin, the Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe, said that ``the gunmen laid ambush on a security patrol team using explosive devices around Shagari low-cost housing area". 
However, Brig.-Gen. Bola Koleoso, the Director of Army Public Relations, said that the army headquarters had yet to confirm the number of casualties in the attack. (NAN)
