Wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Sherifat Aregbesola has cautioned Fulani Community in the state against open defecation habit and warned
that such habit is dangerous to healthy living and growth.
She said this while addressing the residents of the Fulani Community of Gaatepatan in Ejigbo Local Government Council of Osun State during a One Day Sensitization meeting with Fulani community.
Mrs. Aregbesola who is the State Ambassador of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) said that the sensitization meeting with Fulani Community became imperative in the interest of their health.
She therefore congratulated all the communities that have reached Open Defecation Free (ODF) status and challenged others that are yet to attain ODF to be alive to their responsibilities adding that some of these communities would be visited for more sensitization.
Mrs. Aregbesola stressed the need for everyone to be conscious of any habit that tends to pollute the environment.
Mrs. Aregebsola expressed delight that CLTS has brought about unprecedented provision of water and sanitation facilities across the local councils saying that “our main task now is to move away from the pervading attitude of not maintaining our infrastructure”.
“We should see the facilities in our communities as ours and we should ensure they are optimally maintained to be our lasting legacy.
Maintenance of these facilities in a sustainable manner would require the cooperation of all of us in the communities.
