The Anambra State Government has said no fewer than 50
homósegxwal and 618 próstitution locations live in the state.
The areas have been described as HIV and AIDS high-risk goals in
the state.
The controller of the state’s AIDS command bureau, Dr. John
Ndibe, who revealed this on Monday in Onitsha, Anambra State,
asserted that the government would use its restricted funds to goal
such locations and ensure that the operators were educated on the
need to defend themselves and their purchasers against the deadly
scourge.
He said the bureau, as a co-ordinating agency on HIV and AIDS
undertakings, was pledged to making sure that it gets the mother-
to-child transmission of HIV and AIDS to a none grade in the state as
administered by leader Goodluck Jonathan.
Ndibe farther disclosed that the bureau had conducted a review of
high-risk components and locations for HIV and AIDS in the state in
alignment to effectively slash the transmission of the dangerous
virus.
“Part of the outcome of the epidemic report was to recognise
locations where they operate; now having recognised locations
were they function and we have an approximate of their figures.
“We now use the hard capital to goal them in those locations so
that even if they extend with their trade, they will be doing it in a
safe way, in such a way that they don’t convey infection because
basically that is what we desire to do”, he noted.ax
