Police probe reveals sect leader ‘hastily killed’


SECT leader Mohammed Yusuf may have been hastily killed by the Borno Police Command, it was learnt last night.
The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Mr. Christopher Denga, who has been recalled to the Force Headquarters, Abuja and some other senior officers may face disciplinary action over the killing of the sect leader, it was said.

Yusuf, the Boko Haram (western education is sin) leader and some key leaders of the controversial sect, were killed after the army handed them over alive to the police.

Besides Yusuf, others killed in suspicious circumstance were his deputy, a former Commissioner for Religious Affairs in Borno State, Alhaji Buji Fai and the father-in-law of the Boko Haram leader, Alhaji Baa Fugu Mohammed.

Although the police claimed that Yusuf died during a shoot-out, a senior police officer confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbona Onovo, and the police management team had established that Yusuf was "hastily killed".
