It all amounts to “Discrimination” not matter how you colour it. ReplyI don’t care which noun, adverb or adjective used; I have zero tolerance for both. “Tribalism or Racism” is the same in my own little “World Dictionary”. It should be confronted by all means or by any means necessary and with everything possible. Tribalism or Racism is Thriving on this forum and in Nigeria at large.

Quote from: angesco on 25-05-2014 08:03 PM I would pick TRIBALISM as being the worse. People who do not step out of Nigeria and visit other foriegn lands may never expwrience racism. However, a Nigerian who has crossed the "border" into a different language speaking part of Nigeria will be treated differently and be grouped into either an Easterner, Westerner or Northener! The fact that you may be for instance be an Igbo fluent in Hausa does not make you one of them and you will be reminded of this everyday. I know pepole turned down for a job, despite having the qualifiications because their STATE OF ORIGIN is the "WRONG"one! And marrying outside of your state of origin will not save you. Ask those who suffered during the last civil war in Nigeria. I cannot understand why people of a different skin colour should hate me because I am BLACK - but hating me when I ORIGINATE from the SAME country but belong to a DIFFERENT TRIBE is MUCH MORE PAINFUL!!! We should get to know each other as FELLOW NIGERIANS and not be judged on our STATE OF ORIGIN!!!!! Would love to debate you on this topic based on your past comments and posts. …..I am not kidding.

Quote from: kolasolar on 25-05-2014 11:54 AM Generally speaking every one knows the damage that Racism has done to the world. What about tribalism in Africa. Especially in Nigeria, has tribalism done as much damage as Racism has done in other parts of the world. Poster thank you for this…!!!…It is an intelligent topic. It is a defining clause. A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything..!!! ………….Malcolm X

Quote from: SugarBB on 25-05-2014 09:37 PM Ask yourself and your people that question first. Mumu! He did ask himself, you and I the question....so what's your point? You again trying to throw a wrench into this discussion. For you saying "Ask yourself and your people that question first. Mumu!" ......The above statement of yours is Discriminatory, Racist, Tribalistic and Senseless. Who are his people? Please explain.

Tribalism is known as the grouping and organizing of people into tribes. A tribe would also be a result of the same beliefs and religious and ethnic culture of the group of people that have decided to follow each other within their group. Racism is the belief that a certain race of people, usually of the same color tend to have specific attributes that make them superior to other races and thus undermining the other races that are not of their own race. Please recheck your dictionary.

both are products of an inferior mind. Reply

Both are products of a sick mind. And don't forget 2 add "religion" which is the reason millions have lost their lives in Nigeria. Its only a sick person that will see another of God's creation as inferior. It baffles me in this country when I see discriminatn amongst ppl with the same skin colour all bcos of tribe & religion. I won't 4get 2 mention the gap btw the rich & the poor & what the latter suffer in the hands of the former. If we can allow tribe, tongue & ill-gotten wealth deceive us in seeing another person as inferior, then what treatment do we expect from Europeans who already see us as Monkeys? All of these are signs of sick minds anyway & we're all guilty of these sins. God has got enough ppl 2 judge. Reply

They are both bad, but tribalism is worse. Reply

THE WORSE IF TRIBALISM......TODAY BOKO HARAM IS KILLING PEOPLE BECAUSE OF WHAT?TRIBALISM,Hausa says that they are born to rule and when they are not in power, killing of the innocent started.....Racism is nothing than Tribalism,in other words, anyone that you are involved is the worse for you....those who are involved in Racism will tell you that it is the worse, just like some black Americans are experiencing it today....both are the same. Racism and Tribalism are twin sisters of the same mother. Both are driven by the same spirit. When it occurs within a race we call it Tribalism and when it occurs between races (obviously internationally) we call it Racism. But here is the thing: it is fueled by hate driven by prejudice, preconception, bias, suspicion, ignorance, and manifested by discrimination, segregation, bigotry. People who practice it have some attributes in common, they are hypocrites, bigots, fearful and partial in disposition. Reply
