At least 18 people were killed 30 others taken to the hospital when a blast ripped through a bus in the northeast Nigerian city of Potiskum on Tuesday, a union official and a driver at the bus station told AFP.

The official and another driver both said the blast happened after a man put a bag in the boot of the bus and then tried to board the vehicle before he could go through a security check.
