A senior lawyer who represented former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola at the 2007 Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has been disrobed.
Kunle Kalejaye had his licence cancelled by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) after he was found guilty of professional misconduct.
Kalejaye has also been stripped of his Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title for engaging in “confidential, private and confidential telephone conversation” with the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Thomas Naron while representing Oyinlola.
He was said to have engaged in the act in question between March and June 2008 with the Justice who has now been compulsorily retired.
The LPDC panel, after the verdict, also ordered the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court to delete Kalejaye’s name from the list of legal practitioners in Nigeria.
Kalejaye was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984.
