The lecturer, in the Department of Environmental Design Management of OAU, was abducted on his way to a funeral ceremony at Oye Ekiti a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile, in a twist to the story, the police high command is claiming credit for the rescue of the abductees.
According to the police, the rescue was effected by a special squad ordered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, to halt the rising incident of kidnapping in Ekiti State.
The police also confirmed that it had arrested some of the suspected criminals.
The disclosure was contained in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, an Acting Commissioner of Police.
It reads: “The special operation ordered by IGP Solomon Arase… has this morning successfully rescued Ten (10) persons from the hands of kidnappers. The victims are being debriefed and receiving medical attention.
“Some kidnappers have been arrested and the operation is ongoing. It will be recalled that the IGP this week dispatched a crack team of operatives to the State to stem the rising tide of kidnapping.
“The Police remain responsive and shall continue to apply proactive and prompt response measures to issues of crime nationwide.”
