ok try this nice but risky move.
This time do things the opposite way,... cut d friendship level a lil bit low, pretend as if u dnt care any longer. If she makes a new hair and other dudes re like "demn u look gourgus" dnt comment, keep ur mouth sealed up, call her once in a blue moon and if u guyz happens to meet each other sumwhere, gist wit her like normal and make jokes abt havin a crush on her best frnd, ask her if she cud hlp u wif her frnd's number, watch her reaction,look straight into her eyes, u'll definitely knw if she's cool wif d idea or not. If she say's NO, dnt argue, assure her dat u can always get the number wit ease sumwhere. After chat, dnt see her off as usual if possible dnt hug her. Bet me, she'll call u l8ta tho not necessary dat day, to complain abt ur recent altitude towards her.
BUT be careful cos girls re phones, they love 2b held and talked to, If u press the wrong button u'll be disconnected.
