A dismissed soldier in a Nasarawa State community has been nabbed after allegedly duping many of the residents. A dismissed soldier, Bala Babaginda, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command, on Thursday for allegedly duping 27 persons of N4m.
According to Reporters, parading the 32-year-old at the NSCDC headquarters in Lafia, the commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Lawal Bashir-Kano, said the suspect collected various sums of money from his victims, promising to assist them get employment into the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service.
He said the suspect collected N200,000 from one Mr. Ovey Aliku; N100,000 from one Akolo Meyan; and N600,000 from one Kigbu Sunday, among others. Babaginda, who admitted to collecting the money, said he was only trying to assist the victims get jobs.
The daughter of one of the victims, 22-year-old Daniel Deborah, said Babanginda duped her father in February 2014, after claiming to have “a powerful boss” in Abuja.
