Police Nab Suspected Fake Facebook Suitor In Anambra State

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a serial Facebook “suitor”, David Maduabuchi, who specialises in defrauding young girls with false pretenses for marriage.

Two of such girls reportedly lost the sum of N418,000 to the 22-year old alleged fraudster.

The victims whose names were given as Miracle and Chinasa respectively were allegedly lured by the suspect on Facebook to steal from their parents to meet the whims of the alleged suitor.

The suspect was said to have also collected some undisclosed number of laptop computers from his victims.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the story to our correspondent.

He said the suspect had been arrested while the case was being investigated after which the suspect would be charged.

He said, “Police detectives attached to Awada Division arrested one David Maduabuchi, aged 22 years, of No 16 Chukwu Onovo street, Okpoko.

“Suspect specialises in swindling vulnerable youngsters particularly teenage girls on Facebook and hoodwink them into stealing from their parents and guardians for him.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that between the months of March and November 2019, the suspect lured Ogechi Miracle, aged 18years and Chinansa Peter, 18yrs on Facebook under false pretences of marrying them.

“Victims were further tutored by the suspect and they both stole the sums of N318,000 and N100,000 respectively at different times from their parents, as well as laptop computers which they handed over to him.
