The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has announced that the Lagos and Abuja International airports will be shut from the 23rd of March 2020 until further notice. The authorities released a letter enforcing the new closures - you can read a copy of the letter below:

Quote
Subject UPDATE ON CLARIFICATION ON FLIGHT RESTRICTION INTO NIGERIA DUE TO
COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

Further to our earlier letter on restriction of international flights into Nigeria, we wish to inform you that effective Monday 23 March at 2300Z to 23" April at 2300Z, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos (ONMM) and Nnamdi Azikwe Intemational Airport Abuja (DNAA) will be closed to all International flights.

Emergency and essential flights are exempted from this restriction.

This is in addition to the closure of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano (ONKN), Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu (DNEN) and Port-Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa (DNPO) effective Saturday 21 March at 2300Z.

Henceforth, all airports in Nigeria are closed to all incoming international flights with the exception of emergency and essential flights.

Domestic flights will continue normal operations at all airports.

Ail airlines are required to submit passenger manifest to Port Health Authorities prior to arrival of flights into Nigeria.

Please be guided accordingly.

The closure of the airports came as the result of 10 new cases of the coronavirus that have been diagnosed in Lagos and Abuja all of which were people who recently flew into the country. What do you think of this new move by the government? Is it timely or wise?

The shut down was delayed because of their selfish interest, they care not for the lives of innocent and vulnerable Nigerians. We just hope and pray this does not spread like wildfire.

The airport was shutdown after Buhari's daughter returned from the UK. Nigeria is politically doomed
