Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has said during his pre-match conference ahead of his side’s UCL game against Borussia Dortmund that he understands the pressure under which he is for him to win the UEFA Champions League.

The former Bayern Munich boss noted that if he fails to win the UCL he will be tagged as a failure, considering his side’s dominance in the EPL but are yet to reach the UCL semi-finals talkless the final since his arrival at Manchester over the last 4 seasons.

The enormous amount of resources invested in his squad by the Dubai owners, along with the stadium development and academy upgrades, has put the pressure heavy on Guardiola to deliver the ultimate crown in European football competition.

Looking to reach the Champions League semi-finals, City now faces Borussia Dortmund in their quarter-final second leg on Wednesday, carrying a 2-1 lead from the first leg at home.

“This is a business, and business is business. Business is winning,” said Guardiola at his press conference on Tuesday April 13.
“If we don’t win, I will be a failure. If we win, it will be: `Oh, how good is Pep.”’

Guardiola did also add that it is the players who deserve credit in successful seasons, not him.

“We won the Champions League, I didn’t play,” Guardiola said in reference to his time at Barcelona.

“I didn’t win the Champions League with Barcelona – they won it. I was just there to have one idea altogether.

“If I retire in five or 10 years, what has happened in my career was completely unexpected when I started. I’m more than grateful for the clubs I was at and the players that I’ve had.”
