Eric Abidal has pleaded with his wife for forgiveness after she filed for divorce following an alleged affair between Eric and Paris Saint-Germain player Kheira Hamraoui
Hayet Abidal, the wife of former Barça player Eric Abidal, has confirmed she is seeking a divorce from her husband after he allegedly admitted an extra-marital relationship with ex-Barça Femeni player Kheira Hamraoui.
Eric Abidal has taken to Instagram to issue a passionate apology to his wife.
The ex-France international's legal representatives originally refused to comment when news that Hayet had began divorce proceedings was first revealed, but he has now broken his silence with a message to his wife, pleading for forgiveness.
In the post on his Instagram account, Eric addressed his wife by saying: "@Hayetabidal forgive me.
"Whatever your decision, you will remain in my eyes the woman of my life, and especially the mother of our wonderful children."
He then went on to add: "I deserve this humiliation even though it kills me alive. Thank God, God willing one day you will forgive me. #loveyoutothemoonandback."
Sources have told ESPN that while investigating the player's phone calls, police noticed Hamraoui had called Abidal on the morning of her attack.
According to sources, Hamraoui was in Diallo's car with two other PSG teammates after leaving a club dinner in Paris last week. When the car pulled out in front of her home, two men wearing balaclavas armed with iron bars dragged Hamraoui out of the car and started hitting her on the legs.
Diallo and one other person were detained for questioning last week about the attack.
Aminata Diallo has been released with no charge by the police having found her innocent of the alleged attack she masterminded on her teammate, Kheira Hamraoui.
The police are now following other serious leads to solve the mystery behind the attack.
