Bishop Kukah Fumes Over Murder Of Female Student, Deborah Samuel For ‘Blasphemy’ In Sokoto

Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto has expressed sadness over the killing of a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto State.

It was earlier reported that the student who was identified as Deborah Yakubu was lynched by some male Muslim students for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed in a WhatsApp platform.

The unfortunate incident has continued to generate reactions from concerned Nigerians who are demanding justice for the 200-level student.

Bishop Kukah in a statement he personally signed, called on relevant authorities to fish out the perpetrators without delay.

According to him, those who carried out the attack must be punished according to the law of the country, saying the matter must be treated as a criminal case.

He said,

“I have received with deep shock the incident that occured in the Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto State leading to the gruesome murder of Miss Deborah Yakubu, a 200 level home economics student today

“We condemn this incident in the strongest terms and call on the authorities to investigate this tragedy and ensure that all the culprits are brought to book.

“The only obligation that is owed her immediate family, her fellow students and the school authority is the assurance that those who are guilty of this inhuman act, no matter their motivation, are punished according to the law of the land.

“Christians have lived peacefully with their Muslim neighbours in Sokoto over the years. This matter must be treated as a criminal act and the law must take its cause”.

Let's say it happened in Igboland the Fulani government of Nigeria would have sent Tucano jets  to bomb the Igbos out.  I will continue to curse the British for Amalgamating North and South ( Darkness and Light)

Thank you bro ! In addition, it’s a good thing to immortalize ancient values ,traditions,culture and lifestyle.These are characterized identity that deserve and worth preservation ,continuity and passing on to the new generation as they are valuables heritage .But religion extremism must be condemned in a strongest term .The action of these Islamic extremist group of students is unacceptable in a civilized society .Religion tolerance should be entrenched and enforced in this country.Otherwise, it will destroy the coexistence of our multi religion practices .

You are always quick to jump on any story from the east to bad mouth them and suggest the worst possible treatment, but never have you done that when the story is from the north. Same as news on APC and their bad governance. Talking about religion, the dark soul that you talk about is from the aggressive and relentless indoctrination of people by muslims as soon as they can walk and talk and not anything about being Africans. Why is that dark soul theory of yours not making African Christians kill for Christ?. No even go there, about the middle east countries that you talk about because no be muslims from Borno or Zamfara dey cut people throat for Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Palestine etc. Even Saudi Arabia sentenced a 12 abi 13 year old boy to death by beheading for having the talent of composing funeral poems. If you cant condemn them openly, then you are in support of what they do.
