Ben Ayade to seek a new retirement home as his bid to retire in the Senate hits a brick wall.

He was defeated by Barr. Adams Cecilia at the APC Senatorial primaries.

The governor would be completing his eight years as governor of the state in 2023.

He dumped the main opposition party, PDP in May 2021 to nurse his presidential ambition which he made known in April.

Ben Ayade - 52 votes
Martin Ojie - 61 votes
Adams Cecilia - 140 vote.

He has become the first Incumbent Governor to lose a primary election in Nigeria.
