Atsu's wife Marie-Claire Rupio, with whom he had three children, gave an emotional tribute to her husband at the service, saying: "In life I love you, darling, in death I'll do the same." Rupio broke down in tears as she read out her speech, and had to pass it on to Atsu's sister to finish the reading

Hundreds of people including Ghana’s president have paid their last respects to Christian Atsu, who died in last month’s earthquake in Turkey.

Atsu, 31, spent most of his career playing in the English Premier League for clubs including Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton.

He was honoured with a state funeral in the capital, Accra.

but if his wife was not there, what was the man doing in the community where the earthquake occur? I understand it is a highly populated area built cheaply for the masses. What was he doing there Lord with his family? I pray for the repose of his soul.
