Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe recently expressed his frustration with the industry’s low payment and lack of respect for actors.

In a recent interview with newsmen, Uzor Arukwe expressed his dissatisfaction with the low salary that performers earn in the film industry. He emphasised that the current salary system is insufficient to compensate them for their efforts.

“I want us to do better, and I want to see Nigerian actors enjoying the fruits of our labour,” he remarked. Back-end payments and royalties are available to our peers in Hollywood and other countries. We’re just stuck with our artistry here.

“Most of the time, the remuneration isn’t even what one would expect. I hope we can reach a moment when performers are truly celebrated. If you look at the music and comedy sectors, you will notice that they are well-known. Actors and filmmakers, on the other hand, appear to be on the back burner. “I want actors to be celebrated and well compensated.”

Uzor has been in a number of notable Nollywood films, including Sugar Rush, The Set Up, Blood Covenant, and others.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and a Master of Business Administration degree.
