A traditional ruler in the Orodo Autonomous Community in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Samuel Ohiri, has regained his freedom from his abductors.

Confirming this to newsmen today January 18, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Henry Okoye, said the monarch was released after a hot chase on the kidnappers at the forest by operatives of the Command’s Anti kidnapping unit.

Gistmania had earlier reported that a heavily armed four-member gang stormed the residence of the former chairman of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers in a green Toyota Highlander on Saturday, January 6, 2024, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the monarch's abduction.
