A fire outbreak engulfed a two-storey building located in Dosunmu Market within the Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State, causing widespread alarm and prompting emergency response efforts.

Sources indicate that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning around 11:10 a.m., sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky and attracting attention from nearby residents and passersby.

Amodu Sjakiru, the Head of Public Education at the Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed the blaze, highlighting the swift mobilization of fire service personnel to the scene.

Sjakiru revealed that the fire impacted two-storey structures within the market premises, emphasizing the urgent need to contain the flames and prevent further escalation of the situation.

While the cause of the fire remains undetermined at present, efforts are underway to ascertain the factors contributing to the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

"Fire service personnel are currently on the ground to stop the fire and prevent any further casualties. The fire affected two-storey buildings," Sjakiru stated.
