President Bola Tinubu has recently renamed a prominent highway in Abuja after the esteemed Nigerian playwright and Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka.
This act serves as an homage to Soyinka's extensive contributions to literature, human rights, and his influential role in Nigeria's cultural and political landscape.
The renaming of the highway is seen as a recognition of Soyinka's lifelong dedication to the arts and his advocacy for justice and democracy in Nigeria.
This was made known by the Special Adviser on Information, Bayo Onanuga
Wole Soyinka, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986, is celebrated both domestically and internationally for his works, which include plays, essays, and novels that often critique political oppression and societal issues.
