Tensions flared on Sunday morning in Ekosin, an ancient town in Osun State's Odo-Otin Local Government Area, following widespread protests triggered by the imposition of a new traditional ruler.

According to reports from Daily Post, members of the Nyanbilolu Ruling House took to the streets, setting tires ablaze at strategic locations across the town. Eyewitnesses recounted waking up to scenes of unrest as the protests unfolded.

The crisis stemmed from the recent presentation of the staff of office to Kasali Olagunju as the Akosin of Ekosin by the Osun State Government earlier in the week. This action has been met with vehement opposition from residents and members of the ruling houses in Ekosin.

Just days prior, the Nyanbilolu Royal Family, through their spokesperson Kayode Asa, had led protests against what they termed the nocturnal appointment of Olagunju by political office holders associated with the Ademola Adeleke administration.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely as tensions remain high in Ekosin. The community's dissatisfaction with the imposition of a traditional ruler has underscored deep-seated grievances over the integrity of the selection process and traditional leadership dynamics.

As the unrest continues, residents and stakeholders await further developments and seek resolution to ensure peace and stability in Ekosin.
