
Nigerians have expressed diverse reactions attacking one another and the president’s communication aide on social media over the departure of President Bola Tinubu for Paris, France using the new muilti million Dollar Airbus A330.
Special Adviser on information and strategy to Mr. President, Bayo Ononuga had announced the departure via his X handle, formerly Twitter on Monday.
The post subsequently witnessed backlashes as Nigerians took to comment section, throwing jabs.
Onanuga is a Nigerian journalist. He was appointed as the Special Adviser on information and strategy on October 13, 2023 by President Tinubu.
Ononuga via his X handle, @aonanuga1956, dated August 19, 2024 at 6.38pm, announced with pictures attached, departure of Mr. President for Paris, France using the new Airbus A330.
The post titied:
“The new plane, bought far below the market price, saves Nigeria huge maintenance and fuel costs, running into millions of dollars yearly.
“The recommendation to replace the B737-700(BBJ) followed an investigative hearing by Nigeria’s parliament that questioned the plane’s safety record and cost efficiency, especially after it malfunctioned during a trip to Saudi Arabia.
“The Nigerian Senate’s security and intelligence committee recommended replacing the ageing aircraft in the presidential fleet to reduce downtime and operational expenses.
“The new plane is spacious and is furnished with the state-of-the-art avionics, customized interior and communications system.”
Nigerians took to the comment section blasting one another and Onanuga ferociously.
