BudgIT, a civic tech organization focused on budget transparency, has alleged a significant discrepancy in the budget proposal for the Federal College of Education (FCC) Oji River, Enugu State.
According to their findings, the institution initially submitted a budget proposal of ₦12.8 billion to the National Assembly. However, federal lawmakers reportedly approved a drastically inflated figure of ₦103.6 billion as the institution's final budget.
This raised concerns about the transparency and accountability of the budget approval process, highlighting potential irregularities in the National Assembly's handling of the institution’s financial plans.
BudgIT has been advocating for increased scrutiny and better management of public funds to ensure that such anomalies are addressed.
