The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of an unidentified young woman at a hotel in the Dopemu area of Lagos. The tragic incident occurred last Friday night, around 9:30 p.m.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, the case was reported to the Dopemu Police Division by the hotel’s manager. The manager recounted that a man had arrived at the hotel with the woman, intending to rent a room for a short rest. However, the identities of both individuals were not recorded by the hotel.
An hour after checking in, the woman reportedly rushed out of the room, complaining of feeling unusually hot. The manager provided her with cold water, but her condition continued to deteriorate. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital on Dopemu Road, where she was pronounced dead. The man who had accompanied her to the hotel fled the scene and remains at large.
SP Hundeyin confirmed that the hotel manager is currently in police custody to assist with the investigation. The woman's body has been taken to the Lagos Mainland General Hospital mortuary as authorities work to determine the cause of death, identify the deceased, and locate the absconding man.
An investigation is ongoing to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
