A tragic incident occurred on the Lagos lagoon when an unidentified skitmaker reportedly drowned while filming content. The skitmaker, part of a group filming by the water's edge, has yet to be found, sparking concerns about safety around the lagoon.

A Nigerian man who shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter) expressed his sorrow, stating that the other skitmakers involved in the shoot were apprehended by estate security and handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation. The incident is the second drowning in the area in just three days, highlighting the ongoing risks associated with the lagoon.

The man, who claimed to be a witness, said,
Quote
"Sad evening here. Skitmaking gone wrong. Someone drowned in the Lagoon that borders my estate this evening. They were acting skit. Yet to be found."

He also noted that drownings have become alarmingly frequent in the lagoon, often involving local workers such as security personnel, dredging workers, and site workers who swim after work. The incident comes amid growing concerns about the dangers of the waterway, which is located just a short distance from residential estates.

Quote
"Every other week, there’s a drowning incident, and it’s no longer news. You just step out of your house and casually hear, ‘someone drowned in Osa today,’"
the man said, reflecting on the frequent drownings in the area.

In a grim observation, he added,
Quote
“One can only pray against hope that the young skitmaker currently in the water returns alive.”

As the search for the missing skitmaker continues, residents are urging authorities to step up safety measures around the lagoon, while emphasizing the importance of taking precautions during such risky stunts.
