Tragedy struck Kuringafa town in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State on Thursday night, December 12, 2024, when bandits launched a deadly attack that left five people dead and three others injured.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community at around 10 p.m., unleashing gunfire on residents. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the violence has left the community reeling.
According to reports from crisis journalist Bakatsine, the victims were caught off guard during the onslaught, with survivors recounting harrowing experiences of gunfire and chaos.
The wounded victims are currently receiving treatment, while local authorities are yet to issue a formal statement on the incident. Residents are calling for heightened security in the region to prevent further attacks.
This latest assault adds to the growing wave of insecurity plaguing parts of Katsina State, as communities grapple with the fear and devastation caused by such violent acts.
