A 60-year-old air conditioning and refrigerator repair technician, identified as Najeem, tragically lost his life while working at a residence in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to the police, Najeem, who was from Lagos, was working on a two-story building when the accident occurred on Friday, December 13, 2024. While attempting to refill the air conditioning gas, he climbed a ladder holding a small gas cylinder. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and fell, striking his head on the concrete floor below. The impact caused severe head injuries, leading to profuse bleeding and his immediate death.
The incident was reported by the resident of the house, Abraham Popoola, at approximately 9 pm. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the details, stating that the Ajuwon division’s operatives visited the scene, took photographs, and deposited Najeem's body at the Life Channel Mortuary for further examination.
This incident highlights the dangers faced by workers in high-risk professions, reminding the public and employers to take appropriate safety measures during such tasks.
