In a shocking turn of events, commercial motorcyclists, known as *Okada* riders, launched a violent attack on a police station in Oka-Akoko, located in the Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident unfolded as the motorcyclists accused police officers of shielding a commercial driver involved in a reckless driving incident that damaged the motorcycle of one of their colleagues.

According to reports, a confrontation broke out when the motorcyclists arrived at the station in search of the driver responsible for the accident on Epinmi Road. The police officers had been at the station when they received a report of the accident, and they promptly responded by transporting injured individuals to the hospital.

However, tensions escalated as the motorcyclists, numbering around 100, gathered at the station demanding the driver’s apprehension. As the police attempted to de-escalate the situation, the motorcyclists resorted to violence, beating the officers with sticks and seizing a mobile phone belonging to a senior police official.

In response to the attack, a police spokesperson confirmed that two of the motorcyclists involved in the assault have since been arrested.

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation, including from the Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, who expressed strong disapproval of the actions taken against the police officers. The monarch called for calm and urged the community to respect law enforcement in their efforts to maintain peace and order.
