In a shocking and emotional revelation, a young man identified as @MisterElikem shared his heartbreaking experience of unknowingly being part of his girlfriend's wedding preparations with another man.
The incident came to light on social media platform X, where Elikem responded to a viral thread asking men to recount things they did while "stupidly in love."
Elikem explained how his then-girlfriend lured him into what she called a “cake date,” portraying it as a fun and adventurous outing. During the visit to the bakery, she introduced him as her fiancé, claiming they were there to taste and select flavors for their upcoming wedding cake.
“I thought it was odd when she told me to ‘just play along,’ but I trusted her and went with it,” he said. The bakery staff served them a variety of cakes, which his girlfriend praised, even discussing designs and setting a $600 budget for the cake.
However, the situation took a suspicious turn a week later. His girlfriend began ignoring his calls, delaying responses to his messages, and making excuses to avoid meeting him.
The truth unraveled when Elikem bumped into the baker on the street. The baker innocently inquired if the wedding cake had met their expectations and mentioned that his “wife” had returned with her “brother” to finalize the design and collect the cake.
Devastated, Elikem reached out to his girlfriend’s best friend, who reluctantly confirmed that the girlfriend had secretly gotten married and instructed her friends not to disclose the event.
“She blocked me on all platforms. I was heartbroken and couldn’t eat or sleep. It took therapy to help me process the betrayal,” Elikem revealed.
