Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has stirred the pot in the Nigerian entertainment industry with claims of a concerted effort against certain individuals. In a recent video shared on his Instagram, Portable accused some figures in Nollywood of orchestrating a “gang-up” after actor Ibrahim Chatta missed out on winning the Best Lead Actor award at the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Chatta, who was nominated for his role in *House of GAA*, lost the prestigious award to actor Femi Adebayo, who starred in Seven Doors. Adebayo’s co-star, Chioma Chukwuka, also won Best Lead Actress. Portable, however, insisted that Chatta deserved the award more and criticized the decision in his candid message.
Portable also expressed his frustration over the emphasis placed on awards, stating,
In a message of solidarity, Portable reassured Chatta, saying, “If they don’t reward you, God will reward you. You are my mentor, I love you.”
This isn’t the first time Ibrahim Chatta has voiced concerns over industry recognition. In 2023, he claimed that his exclusion from the AMVCA nominations was part of a conspiracy against him.
