Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) national chairman, Chief Sam Nkire, yesterday said the proposed merger agreement between the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)’ cannot succeed as it will not be strong enough to dislodge the PDP from power.

The PPA boss, in a statement, said it is not possible for only two of the current opposition political parties to form an alliance strong enough to push the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of power.

Nkire insisted that only a concerted effort of a majority if not all the parties could dethrone PDP and pave way for good governance in Nigeria.

He said the two parties in the merger talk may fail if they make a hurried start, in an attempt to leave others behind.

He said “it would take more than a marriage of two strange bed fellows to successfully challenge PDP”, adding that it would take the strength of the whole opposition family to subdue PDP in the next general election in 2015.
