Pipeline fire in southeast Nigeria kills 20 in Abia State

ABUJA (AP)
October 1, 2012

A government spokesman said that 20 people in southeast Nigeria died when a broken gasoline pipeline caught fire, burning alive those gathering the fuel.
The fire happened in a remote village in Abia state, near Nigeria’s oil-rich southern delta. Abia state government spokesman Ugochukwu Emezue said on Monday that the fire happened September 23, but it took days for the information to reach officials.

Pipeline ruptures remain common in Nigeria, an oil-rich nation where militants and criminals routinely tap into lines to steal crude oil and refined gasoline. Fires can easily and accidentlally be sparked by those attempting to gather the fuel.
In September, Nigeria’s state-run oil company said suspected thieves shot dead three of its workers in southeast Ogun state after rupturing a gasoline [/size]

What our Country….!!! … It took eight days for the government to be aware of this tragic event? … Twenty lives lost for nothing because of greed and high level of ineptitude. Twenty Victims of poverty, hunger in the land of giant of Africa…
They have all the money in the world to prevent this by way of safety and security.  How long is long to get things right? How many more lives to be lost? One life is just too many… All these politicians are bunch of cold hearted decadents that should be tried for capital offences before a “Tribunal of the People by the People for the People

…… like Ukpabi Asika once said; “Enough is Enough

May their souls rest in peace.

when r we going 2 learn?...NIGERIANS which way.......the problem is from our bad leaders,They  steal The oil with pen while their citizens take  foolish opportunity of risk which leads to death as an advantage on a broken gasoline pipeline  just because the so called  bad leaders only focus on oil....52YEARS and we are all celebrating,No light we are celebrating....No security we are celebrating....No good innovation and we are all celebrating.....No Car or product made in NIGERIA and we are all celebrating....No job opportunity we still celebrating....No religion understanding and we are all celebrating.....No CCTV to shows how it really happen and we are all celebrating....we dont have an identity which really shows that we are all NIGERIA CITIZENS but we still celebrating...The so called bad leaders dont even know how many population in NIGERIA still we are celebrating....Only GOD knows how much the cake cost us this time around Ooo.........its time we think as a leaders not as a poor citizens... NA WA OOO, When NIGERIAN leaders steal money, they keep it in SWISS BANKS; When they are sick- INDIA or GERMANY; When they want to invest .. AMERICA; When they want to buy mansions - LONDON/CANADA. They go to DUBAI for shopping, PARIS for holidays. When they want to repent- SAUDI ARABIA. But when they DIE they all want to be BURIED in NIGERIA. Abeg, help me ask them: NIGERIA na CEMETERY?
