Here are few tips for such situation:
Make sure you accept the fact that theres a better person waiting to show you love
Do not get into physical contact with your ex - this is very important, if you live together before you have to "break-up" toally, move apart.
Treat yourself (and your own friends, not friends you two had in common) to some nice time.
Do not rush into another relationship, because your ex did same - it might be trouble for you.
Make up your mind on what you want to do - either staying single or just keeping casual friend of the opposite sex or falling back on your "plan B"
Relax and realise that the world is big enough for you and your ex wasnt worth you.
