What was planned as a day of joyful union between a couple last weekend turned upside down when the  spiritual leader of a church in Benin declined to wed a couple following the refusal of the groom to pull his Italian designer shoes before entry into the church. Worshippers, friends, family members and well-wishers who stormed the church were disappointed as the groom, who claimed he bought his shoes for N50,000, was adamant as he shunned pleas from his bride to comply with the rules of the church. Meanwhile, as the drama raged, guests and well-wishers who were seated under the canopies for reception at the same venue were lavishly entertained by hired caterers as the confusion between the church’s overseer and the couple, according to Reports The beautiful bride who refused to be consoled over the incident wept profusely before church members, and the groom soon followed as tears freely ran down his cheeks. A senior pastor in the church who does not want his name in print said: “It is quite unfortunate that the groom is adamant. We expected that the bride who is our member must have educated him enough. It is not new among our members. Politicians, business moguls who often visit comply with our ways of worship and I must say that what we do here is divine and biblical.”

Religious fanaticism; what does shoes have to do with worshiping God? Is this church of God or church of men and their dogmas? God wants pure hearts to worship him, not men who design fetish ideas and subject their followers to unnecessary conditions in the name of church ordinances.

So na becos of 50k na him go make one wedding get serious problem? That groom dey craze for head oo. My advice is that the lady should back off from that marriage cos this is a sign that the husband will value material thing more than herself....

this is what happen when the bridegroom insist on taking the groom to her own church,
instead of the other way round.

That's pride....... destruction goes before the pride one. Within 30mins the church will use to join them together. It's so annoying. Just do as they do in Romans. Year boy. Am sure if there's any announcements of bomb around the church area, that groom will first be the one to remove his 50k shoe and run for his dear life. Bcoz he who the car hits, will never stayed behind to copy the vehicle number. Yeyeyeye boi

Did the groom tell u all he did not take of shoes because of the price? Why is everybody talking of the cost of the shoes. He did not take off shoes because he did not see the rationale for doing so. A rigid pastor and bad decision caused a failure of another man's wedding.

This is why it's important to marry within ones faith. Having conceded your faith to marry in a different denomination, the Groom should likewise concede his pride and love for quality shoe to wed. Simple!!
