My point is that AFAIK the Prophet Muhammed wasn't handed the Qu'ran; he wrote down Al'lah's words. Joseph Smith, OTOH, was given the gold plates by Moroni.

So the thread title isn't quite correct.

(BTW, I really don't think that Joseph Smith was given any gold plates...)

@Cadanre
I am never here to condem any religion, but you and your sidekicks are very fond of criticising.
Now, Let me quote you:

...Allah explains in The Holy Qur’an: This Book is a revelation from the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Its Verses are well-expounded, a Qur’an in Arabic for people of knowledge. It proclaims good news and warning, but most of them turn away, and pay no heed.
[The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 41:2-4]

My query:

1. How do one know that Allah said this and not whomever brought or wrote the book?

2. Is there any concrete proof or witnesses who where present with The Prophet when the Book was being handed to him?

The Quran scholars would know how to answer this in good language. But my basic understanding has been, the contents of the Quran stated events way before the Prophet Mohamad's time, and remember, he was no reader, he could not read or write, and he has no father or mother living to tell him stories from the past. In the Quran are also stories of all the prophets before him and Allah's perspective on them, and not from the views as has been stated in the other books, except where it was not faltered. The revelations, or surahs are special and sacred too. WHen one knows the secrets behind the surahs one will know the length to which using one surah can achieve things. I even read, every surah has 'one khadam', (or only some has one or maybe two). The surahs were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in situations where it was never revealed before too, like the Surah Al-Ikhlas. It was revealed when an assasin caught up with the Prophet Muhammad on his way to some place. But before the assasin could hurt him as he reached Muhammad, he and his horse sank into the ground. At that moment, the assasin (forget his name), asked, who is this God of Muhammad that is so powerful? How does he look like? Then came surah Al-Ikhlas to Muhammad (in the presence of others before him), through Jibrail, which meant, "Allah is one, he does not procreate or been created...".

The Quran does not lie. You read Al-Fatihah, and it will give you some things. Many of the surahs will help one against illness, and others. Just understand it better and , if you like to think 'transparency' or openness, Quran is that. We seek help straight from our creator, and not from others in between. Its just that, we are not as strong in prayers as in faiths compared with others, so, our prayers may be less effective than those who are more faithful and disciplined.
