Guys tends to make more promises than their rival...whatsoever empty promises should be discourage in a relationship.

What are empty promises? Is there any such thing in reality? Aren't there just broken promises and honoured promises?

If I promise to marry a girl and I intend to but don't have the means to and in between promising and the expected time of fulfilment she wanders of into a mess I cannot take and she doesnt expect me to, and that leaves me in the position to break my promise; will it be said that I made an empty promise?

 don't make promises any way but I'd like for anyone in the house to please help me understand what an empty promise is.
